Introduction to Light

Today we learned about light.  Mr. Jonny Long came and showed us about:

KEY LIGHT,

FILL LIGHt,  [and]

BACK LIGHT

These lights are very important in profile pictures. Key light is the main light in a picture. The fill light is the light that literally fills a space. The back light is mainly used for silhouette pictures. A reflector is used for directing light.

Photography Terms

1. I enjoy shooting abstract photos. Like those blurry pictures that one person sees,  for example, a cloud and another person sees waves on the sea I enjoy those types of pictures so I would like to get a chance to shoot them in class. I also like taking pictures of people. I am always trying do draw people in a moment. With pictures it is easier to see and see and experience those moments.

2. Aperture is the first element in the camera trinity. It effects light and DOP.

3. ISO is the second element of the camera trinity. It effects how much light is allowed into the picture.

4. Shutter speed is the third element of the camera trinity. It effects how long the lens is open and is mainly used for capturing motion.

5. ISO, shutter speed, and aperture. Er, well . . . Don't you know?

6. You can do it by making it have a blurrier or more sharp background.

7. Shutter Speed Priority Mode = the camera automatically changes your shutter speed.
    Aperture Priority Mode = the camera automatically changes your aperture.
    Manual Mode = you set everything yourself.

8. Tonal values are the richness in black and the brightness in white. Levels and Balance/Contrast.

9. A graph . . . heh, Will has a big mouth . . .

10.  Diffused = light that has bounced off a surface before you see it. [Will again]
       Direct = light above the thing you are shooting
       Existing = light that iss there when you arrive
       Artificial = light you bring or lightbulbs
       Natural =  sun or moon
       Fill = light that takes up space in the picture
       Key = light that is moved to a specific place for the purpose of taking the picture
       Flash = light that comes from your camera

11. Crop => Duplicate => Levels => Brightness / Contrast => Save as a PSD and a JPEG

12. The selection tool, mouse click

13. Because you shouldn't mess with the background layer since if you do, you can't tell if its better if you don't or can't remember what it originally looked like.

14. This is a very difficult question and i respect your asking me to do it, but i politely refuse to do so.

15. Photography is very important in modern day society. Pictures are an important way for people to express themselves. In my opinion, if we weren't able to take pictures, all the "emo" photographers would die off and all that we would have would be strange normal people.
